    Course: UL 508A Short-Circuit Current Ratings

    o Description: Short-circuit current rating (SCCR) is an important rating applied to control panels, and is required by code. It can be complicated to achieve, and is often misunderstood. Understanding how SCCR is properly determined, and knowing how to reach desired SCCR levels in a cost-effective means is critical to achieving a compliant and competitive control panel design. CEU credits provided.

    Course: Introduction to Machine Safety

    o Description: Properly designed functional machine safety architecture is required on all automated machines that have moving parts capable of causing injury. OSHA requires employers to provide a safe workplace for all. Understanding the implementation and enforcement of machine safety requirements in the US for machine builder OEMs and panel builders is key to providing valuable service to the owners and operators of the automated machines we help design and build. This brief course will introduce key considerations to help understand how to address these important considerations.

    • iii. Key safety considerations
    • iv. Types of devices and products used to design electrical safety control system
    • v. Tips for builders of automated machines and control panels

    Course: Designing for the Environment

    o Description: Review the codes and standards from degree of protection standpoint to ensure control panels are designed to withstand the environment they are installed in.

    o Outline: 

    • » Detail implications to panels not suited for their environment and devices impacted on the panel 
    • » Discuss differences between indoor verse outdoor panels
    • » List the main standards bodies for degree of protection and understand the key ratings to address to ensure panels are designed for their environment
