Mainstream virtualization adoption has undoubtedly transformed the IT landscape. But because critical events such as extended power outages continue to be real threats to both your physical and virtual IT infrastructure, power protection remains an essential component to ensuring high availability, minimizing data corruption, and reducing downtime.
Versatile protection to meet your needs
PowerChute™ software offers ideal serial or network-based protection to give you peace of mind. For protection of stand-alone VMware® and Microsoft® Hyper-V hosts using serial connections, PowerChute Business Edition v9.1.1 can provide UPS management and safe server shutdown for up to 25 Smart-UPS™ units. And for network-based protection, PowerChute Network Shutdown v3.1 has extended its virtualization capabilities to provide users with the option to migrate virtual machines to other hosts in a virtual cluster which have not been impacted by UPS critical events.
PowerChute Network Shutdown v3.1 is the only server shutdown software that can trigger virtual machine migration without leveraging DRS, a migration technology. First, it checks the availability of DRS, and leverages it as needed. If DRS is unavailable, PowerChute Network Shutdown can trigger the migration itself.
When migration is not feasible, PowerChute Network Shutdown v3.1 will gracefully shut down virtual machines and hosts.
Easier protection, enhanced features
Protecting your virtual IT infrastructure has never been easier. PowerChute Network Shutdown v3.1 is the first UPS management software to provide visibility of a virtual cluster environment mapping your host and UPS setup on a single screen.
PowerChute Network Shutdown v3.1 is certified VMware Ready™ and can be easily deployed as a virtual appliance. Support for VMware vApps enables users to control virtual machine shutdown and start-up sequencing. Finally, the PowerChute vCenter Plugin facilitates monitoring via the VMware vSphere™ Client.
