From China to Russia to the United States, more than 20,000 people attended the first round of Xperience Efficiency 2013 events sponsored by Schneider Electric™ in June.
The company developed this unique event to share solutions and innovations with the change agents who will move the world toward better energy efficiency and its benefits such as lower CO2 emissions and cost savings. Attendees ranged from Fortune 500 CEOs to those who oversee critical city infrastructure or manage buildings.
“We are a global company and take our role in helping to improve the environment seriously,” said Isabelle Malinconi, Xperience Efficiency 2013 program manager. “That is why we held this large event for free around the world — to provide energy solutions that people can use in their own lives and businesses to improve energy efficiency.”
More than 590 sessions were offered with 278 speakers. Daily opening ceremonies featured keynote speakers from government, Schneider Electric partners, associations, and company leaders.
“From Schneider Electric you are getting the best innovation from all over the world,” said George Allan, former governor and US senator of Virginia, to an audience in Washington, DC.
The event also drew 273 journalists from around the world who have so far published nearly 500 articles about the event, reaching more than 20 million people.
“I appreciate Schneider Electric from a new perspective,” said Bill Elliott, CTR, master planner, Facilities & Energy, EOIR Technologies, Inc. “I’ve always known you were there, but had no real appreciation of your solutions and systems capabilities. I had a chance to meet many of Schneider Electric’s people as I walked around your impressive array of booths.”
“What I am most interested in is a smart city solution. Compared with a lot of similar solutions we’ve seen, I think Schneider Electric has a very wide product portfolio to support its smart city solution,” said Zhang Wei who attended an event in China.
Keynote speakers discussed the importance of making a more liveable planet: Angelino Garzon (vice president of Columbia) in Bogotá; US Senator Mark Warner, US Congressman Peter Welch, and Sean O’Keefe (chairman and CEO of EADS North America) in Washington DC; and Maílson da Nóbrega, former finance minister of Brazil, and Dr Jaime Lerner, former mayor of Curitiba City, in São Paulo.
