How to use Excel to read data from ClearSCADA using MSQuery

This article will show a simple way to connect to ClearSCADA database throught MSQuery from Microsoft Excel.
Please note that the creation of the ODBC DSN is not in the scope of this article and it is covered in detail in ClearSCADA manual. Our example will use a DSN called "ClearSCADA", created previously.
We will start opening Microsoft Excel (in this case, Excel 2016) and selecting:



We can select the previoulsy created DSN now, in this case "ClearSCADA":



Select the table and columns you want to retrieve data from and click "Next". In this case, we selected "FullName" and "CurrentValueFormatted" columns from the table "CDBPoint":



We can include filters in the query, if needed, then click on "Next":



Now we can select the sort order and click "Next":



In this case we want the data to be shown in Excel, so we leave "Return Data to Microsoft Excel" selected and click on "Finish":



Now we can select where in the spreadsheet we want to show data and click "OK":
