How can you help a circuit breaker run cooler?

Product Line:
Circuit Breakers

To make a circuit breaker run cooler you may consider doing one or more of the following:
1.  Ensure connections are torqued properly
2.  Keep them away from heat sources, such as direct sunlight
3.  Ventilate when possible
4.  Reduce the ambient temperature
5.  Upsize the cable
6.  Use a larger frame size
7.  Use a breaker with a higher ampere rating (ensure the cable is sized adequately to be protected by the higher ampacity breaker)

Electronic-trip breakers will typically run a little cooler because they don't need to generate heat to operate a bimetal for overload protection.  They operate by metering the current flow and will not trip due to heat.

Please see attached bulletin on circuit breaker temperatures.
