Ask a Question

Why isn't my monitoring system working on my PV Series Unit?

After an FSE did work on the inverter, the monitoring system stopped working.

Product Line:
PV100S & PV225S, Possibly GT Series

Ethernet protocol is different than Modbus protocol. Therefore, Modbus option needs to be turned off (Modbus ON\OFF=0). We do not use Modbus in PV series units.

Customer using Ethernet protocol and not Modbus. Modbus ON\OFF needs to be set to zero. IT WILL NOT WORK IF THIS VALUE IS 1.

Note: The work instruction provided is meant for those who are qualified to work on the inverter. This means that they should know how to properly Lock out and Tag out (LOTO) the inverter..., etc.

If you check at the fiber optic converter (the dark circle is at ETHERNET (-03)). The part number for this device is 1-152059-xx (xx=03). Check and make sure the fiber optic cable is connected at the fiber optic port U1001 and U1002.
The position that you connected at the U1001 and U1002 should be the opposite at the fiber optic converter. That means if you connect one end of the cable at the Tx(transmitting) U100x, then the other end of the cable should be connected to the Rx (receiving) at the fiber optic converter and vice versa.
Next, make sure that Modbus ON\OFF at the display is set to zero. Please find steps to check this setting below:
1. Press the Menu button on the keypad
2. Press the enter button (it will ask for password on the screen)
3. Press 594 and then press enter once
4. Press the up-arrow button until it is at the Modbus ON\OFF parameter
5. Press enter and then press the zero
6. Press enter to accept the change
7. Press the arrow up once and down once to see if the Modbus ON\OFF is set to zero.

If the fiber optic cable is good, turning the Modbus ON\OFF to zero should fix the issue. However, if it does not fix the issue, then it is possible that the fiber optic converter is bad (1-152059-03). Call 866-519-1470 and ask to order this part.
