Ask a Question

Is there a tool, table, or any help of some sort that I can provide to help determine what the ground fault settings should be?

We have no tool for determining ground fault settings as this is a matter of what it takes to eliminate nuisance tripping and coordinate with upstream and/or downstream ground-fault protected breakers. Typically a main will be set toward the high end of both pickup and delay and feeders will be set lower. If it is the only GF protected breaker in the lineup, all you need to do is set it high enough to avoid nuisance tripping from normal leakage, transcients, and sensing error. The lowest setting may be OK, or it may need to be moved up a notch or two.
