Ask a Question

What is recommended when a unit has possibly been exposed to water?

When a unit has been exposed to water or an aqueous solution, within the IP rating of the device, the device should continue to operate normally.  If the lens of the emitter or receiver has been obscured or obstructed by residue, power down the device,  clean the lens with a lens cleaning cloth, or a soft cloth dampened with clean water, and test the device for proper operation.

If liquid has penetrated the device, as seen when exposure exceeds the IP rating,  replace the device.  View the attachment for an explanation of Schneider policy as presented by Engineering Services.
