Can a key lock be installed on a Powerpact M, P or R frame breaker that is already in the field?
Yes. But it is factory installed only. Instead of having to replace the breaker, you can return the cover via return tags to the plant to have the lock ``provision`` (mounting bracket) installed. Then you can buy a Schneider lock or Kirk lock from the vendor direct to install on the breaker.
If the existing breaker has a padlock attachment, it will have to be removed. The key lock and padlock take up the same position on the breaker cover.
When returning the breaker ask for ``suffix JK`` for kirk provision, or ``JR`` for Schneider (Federal Pioneer) provision. The return TAGs will be for a ``code 50 return and repair``.
The lock part numbers are as follows:
Federal Pioneer Single Lock (horizontal mount) VFR-3/8-E (Square D Drawing # 48186-221-50) For Powerpact M, P & R Breakers Only
Kirk Single Lock (horizontal mount) SK41685-1 (Square D Drawing # 48186-220-50) For Powerpact M, P & R Breakers Only
