Schneider Electric Virtual City

The Schneider Electric Virtual City at ACE.2009

Ever wondered how energy management, control, facility management, security, and lighting solutions all fit into a water or wastewater facility environment? The Schneider Electric Virtual City puts you in control of seeing where everything fits. At the American Waterworks Association’s annual conference, ACE.2009 this June in San Diego, Schneider Electric demonstrated the virtual city at its booth. Viewers were given five-minute tours of the city and received solar-recharged flashlights for their participation.

“With an offering as broad as ours, it is difficult to know what solutions are available to a given industry” says Patrick Casseday, of Schneider Electric. “That is why we built a virtual city. Now you just click on your area of interest and the solutions are displayed.”

The wastewater portion of the virtual city starts at a plant overview, and provides further links to headworks, blowers, UV, control room, biosolids, and other areas. The appropriate solution for each area is reflected, and links to the solutions’ websites are provided.

“We are very excited about this new tool” says Grant Van Hemert of Schneider Electric’s Water Wastewater Competency Center. “We believe that this tool will help Engineers, Systems Integrators, Contractors, Water Process OEMs and utility personnel better understand our solutions. We also envision this as a tool for schools and other people who want to understand how electrical equipment interfaces to the process.”
