Lexium® Integrated Drives (ILx)
Decentralized motion solutions with integrated drives - Integrated Drives for motion control with stepper, servo or brushless DC motor
Benefits
Lexium Integrated Drives consist of a motor and control electronics. They are controlled via a fieldbus, pulse/direction or I/O interface (“motion sequence” operating mode). The Lexium Integrated Drives are used as decentralized drives in machine building and automation applications. Together with a motion controller such as Lexium Motion Controller or a PLC, complex automation tasks can be performed in a simple and cost-effective way. Complete function modules are available for easy motion programming.

Compactness
Motor and electronics form a single, compact and small-footprint unit. No space at all is required in the control cabinet and only very little space on the machine itself.
Simplicity
Integration of motor and electronics reduces the installation cost and simplifies the EMC concept. The user-friendly PC commissioning software allows for rapid commissioning.
Openness
The open communication concept allows for integration into existing system environments. The Lexium Integrated Drives with fieldbus interface are available in two versions:
- For communication via CANopen, Profibus DP and RS 485
- For communication via DeviceNet, EtherCAT, Ethernet Powerlink and Modbus TCP
Lexium Integrated Drives with stepper motors are available with a pulse/direction interface or an I/O interface for motion sequence.
Flexibility
The Lexium Integrated Drives can be equipped with various motor types: AC synchronous servo motor, brushless DC motor or stepper motor. Each motor type offers specific advantages so they can be used in a large variety of applications.
Integrated Drive ILA has an AC synchronous servo motor. This motor provides superior dynamic characteristics supplied with a short-term over-current during acceleration.
Special features:
- Superior dynamic characteristics and high peak torque
- High-resolution single-turn encoder with a resolution of 16384 increments
- Optionally with integrated holding brake
- Optionally with planetary gearbox (accessory)
Integrated Drive ILS is equipped with three-phase stepper motor. These motors provide high torque at low speeds. This drive is highly suitable for speed drive applications requiring excellent constant velocity characteristics, but also for high-resolution positioning tasks. Commissioning of this stepper motor drive is easy due to controller setting not being required.
Special features:
- High continuous torque
- Excellent constant velocity characteristics
- High positioning resolution (0.018°)
- Optionally with holding brake (ILSxx85 only)
- Optionally with planetary gear (accessory)
Integrated Drive ILE is equipped with a brushless DC motor. The brushless DC motors excel with a high holding torque. Therefore, a holding brake is usually not required. The ILE electronics offer the facility of absolute position feedback.
Special features:
- High holding torque
- Quasi absolute position feedback, therefore homing not required after switching off and on
- Optionally with spur-wheel gearbox or planetary gearbox (accessory)
Safety
The integrated “Safe Torque Off” (“Power Removal”) safety function enables a stop of category 0 and 1 as per IEC/EN 60204-1 without external power contactors. This reduces the system cost and response time. The drive system fulfills the requirements of IEC 61508 SIL2 as well as of ISO 13849-1 performance level “d” (PL “d”) and IEC/EN 61800-5-2 (“STO”).
