Ask a Question

On the ATV61/71 series drives is it necessary to use an encoder when using OFRR setting of the analog output?

Issue:
On the ATV61/71 series drives is it necessary to use an encoder when using OFRR setting of the analog output?

Product Line:
ATV61 and ATV71 series drives.

Environment:
All models, All serial numbers

Cause:
Information unavailable or unclear in current literature.

Resolution:
The OFRR (Measured Motor Frequency) does require the use of an encoder.  OFRR will return the speed of the drive based off of the encoder feedback where the setting OFR (Motor Frequency) calculates the speed of the motor based off of the output frequency of the drive and the calculated slip of the motor.

OFR is generally accurate to 1.0% where OFRR is generally accurate to 0.1%
