Why do the RSL relays have a different coil voltage than the socket?

Why do the RSL relays have a different coil voltage than the socket?

Cause:
Product Specifications

Resolution:
The socket changes the voltage from the AC/DC coil voltage supplied to a DC voltage which is applied to the relay.  In some instances, the relay voltage is less than the socket voltage.  This is standard for this product.
