Ask a Question

For circuit breaker catalog numbers, what is the suffix LY?

Product Line:
Powerpact Breakers

The suffix LY is used to indicate that a low amp lug is used on a high amp breaker. This is sometimes done when an electronic breaker is being used at a very low Ir setting, and the wire feeding the load is smaller than the standard breaker lug will allow, requiring a lug that accepts the small wire.
NOTE: To prevent the breaker from being adjusted to a setting higher than will protect the wire, we recommend sealing the cover over the trip unit dials with a trip unit seal, catalog number MICROTUSEAL.
