Wiser Thermostat does not control heating and air conditioning. Temperature setpoints change automatically to uncomfortable levels.

Issue:
New Home Owner has a new Wiser Thermostat.  The thermostat does not control heating and air conditioning properly,  Temperature setpoints change automatically to uncomfortable levels.

Cause:
It is common for new home owners to have this problem with the EER56000 and EER56100 thermostats.   The factory settings for these thermostats is an aggressive Scheduling Mode with large setbacks (85 degrees for daytime cooling, 62 degrees for daytime heating).   When the home owner adjusts the setpoints manually, the thermostat will automatically revert to the programmed temperatures per the schedule.  

Resolution:
Choose one of the three corrective actions listed below.  

Corrective Action Option 1:
Use the Wiser Web Portal, wiserenergy.com, to adjust the temperature schedule and setpoints.  The Wiser Portal can also be used to enable or disable the schedules.

Corrective Action Option 2:
Adjust the temperature schedule and setpoints manually on the thermostat.  Follow instructions below and refer to the User Guide attached.

1.  From the Home Screen which shows Loads, Energy, Temp at the bottom of the screen, press the Temp Button.
2.  Press the More button to access the Temperature Menu
3.  Rotate the dial to find Program.  Press OK to access the Program.
4.  Select a day of the week using the Dial.  Press OK.   
5.  Rotate the Dial to change any value of time or temperature.  Press the Dial to move to the next time or temperature value.  When finished adjusting all times and temperatures, press OK to save the values.
6.  Repeat steps 4 and 5 for every day of the week.  Press OK when complete
7.  Press Back 3 times to exit to the Main Screen.

Corrective Action Option 3:
Disable Scheduling completely.  The thermostat will be in Manual mode, remaining at a setpoint until changed.

1.  From the Home Screen which shows Loads, Energy, Temp at the bottom of the screen, press 1" round Dial button and hold it in for 3 seconds.
2.  On the "Notice" screen, press Continue
3.  Rotate the Dial to Program Settings.  Press OK
4.  Change the Program Mode from "Schedule"  to "None".  Press OK to save the setting.
5.  Press Back to exit to the Home Screen.
