ComBox - Conversion of ComBox from DHCP IP address to Static IP address for use without router

Issue:
ComBox is set by factory default to work in DHCP mode, meaning you require a TCP/IP or VPN router to supply an IP address to the ComBox
COMBOX - ROUTER - COMPUTER

If a router is not required, the ComBox can assign a fixed (static) IP address to itself. See rest of solution to understand how.
COMBOX - COMPUTER

Product Line:
Conext ComBox

Environment:
Conext ComBox with firmware version 1.03BN0450 or later
All ComBox supported devices
To be performed by qualified personnel only
Apply the script that is applicable to your network setup

Applications used for this tech note:
1. nodhcp.lux
or
2. dhcp.lux

Cause:
Conversion process not explained in manual

Resolution:
To ENABLE fixed (static) IP, we will use the "nodhcp.lux" script (no router required mode):

1. Use attached or download "nodhcp.lux" script (see attached file)
2. If necessary, extract, else copy this script into the root directory of a clean USB flash drive (ensure that there are no other files on flash drive)
3. Insert the flash drive into the ComBox and observe the Memory indicator LED, wait for it to complete flashing
4. Remove the flash drive from the ComBox
*******5. Power Cycle the ComBox for new settings to take effect*******
6. Insert flash drive to your computer and review "settings.log" file. Confirm the script ran successfully and note the IP address that was assigned. You will need it to access your ComBox
7. Open Network Settings, manually provide an IP address to the computer that will connect directly to the ComBox. Both must be on the same Subnet.
->Network and Sharing Center
->Change adapter settings
->On Local Area Connection, click Properties
->Highlight Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and click Properties again
->Choose "Use the following IP address:" and enter 192.168.2.1 (anything starting with 192.168.2 will work, besides 16 which is already taken by the ComBox)
->If you click inside of "Subnet mask:", it should auto-fill with 255.255.255.0
->Click OK
There is a picture attached of how this should look as well.
8. If you now open your browser and type in the Combox's IP address (192.168.2.16), the login page should load successfully. You can also use the USB stick "Connect" button method.

To ENABLE DHCP mode (from fixed IP mode), we will use the "dhcp.lux" script (router required / default mode):

1. Use attached or download "dhcp.lux" script (see download reference link below)
2. If necessary, extract, else copy this script into the root directory of a clean USB flash drive (ensure that there are no other files on flash drive)
3. Insert the flash drive into the ComBox and observe the Memory indicator LED; wait for it to complete flashing
4. Remove the flash drive from the ComBox
*******5. Power Cycle the ComBox for new settings to take effect*******
6. Insert flash drive to your computer and review the "settings.log" file. Confirm the script ran successfully.
7. Open Network Settings on your computer, and select "Obtain IP address automatically".
8. Complete all ComBox to router to computer connections
9. Using your flash drive, complete your ComBox IP address / Serial Number discovery. You will need it to access your ComBox
10. If you now open your browser and type in the Combox's IP address, the login page should load successfully

Note:
In between modes, It is OK for you to save those files or clear your flash drive for other uses
Scripts modify operation at the backend with no change to user interface.
Static IP mode works well with both straight-through and crossover Ethernet Cables
