Altivar 61 & 71: Autotune Function Explained

Needs to understand the Autotune Function

Product Line:
Altivar 61, Altivar 71

The drive uses the motor nameplate data that is programmed in menu 1.4 to test the motor and cables and fine tune the motor control algorithm.   This will result in a better model of the motor in the drive and give tighter speed/torque control.

An autotune is not needed for most applications, and a bad autotune (because of a loose connection or a warm motor) can cause more problems than it's worth.  We suggest doing an Autotune if it is a high performance application requiring low speed torque or closed loop control.
Unlike many of our competitors, the motor will not turn while an autotune is being done, so there is no need to un-couple the motor from the load.
