This document describes the electrical specifications for the split-phase Symmetra LX UPS systems commonly used in North America and Japan.
Split phase systems only (part numbers end in "P")
This information is necessary for successfully and safely deploying Symmetra LX UPS systems.
As indicated in the Symmetra LX Electrical Installation guide, this UPS requires the following electrical specifications:
The input connection type of the LX differs from that of the existing Symmetra UPS systems. Prior to the LX, all U.S. Symmetra UPS systems required input wiring connections of L1, L1, and G only. Due to the split-phase power module design of the Symmetra LX this UPS requires the presence of a properly bonded neutral conductor. When the LX measures the input voltage it references each phase to the neutral conductor. If the neutral is not present the UPS will not operate properly.
If the Symmetra LX is not wired as indicated above, the warranty of the UPS becomes void and component replacement becomes the sole responsibility of the customer. The input/output wiring block is clearly labeled to help electricians properly install the necessary wiring.
