What is the difference between a two-device and a three-device solution for motor circuit protection?

Issue:
What is the difference between a 2-device and 3-device MCP?

Product Line:
Molded Case Circuit Breakers

Environment:
Mag-Gard and Powerpact Motor Circuit Protectors (MCPs)

Resolution:
Three devices are assumed--short circuit protection, overload protection, and a contactor.

The `two-device` solution is a breaker which has overload and short ckt. protection; the second device is the contactor.
The `three-device` solution utilizes an MCP with short circuit protection, a separate overload device, and a contactor.
