Ask a Question

Why is the 9422TF3 rated for 200A but the fuse size rated for 400A?

Overfusing

This is a 200A fusible switch with 400A fuse clips. It still is a 200A disconnect with 200A horsepower ratings. Overfusing is permitted by the NEC and is sometimes required to accomodate the 175% rule when sizing the power fuses. Sometimes the upper horsepower ratings for a particular NEMA size catagory will result in requiring the next larger fuse size when the FLA of the motor is mutilpied by 175%
