Ask a Question

Do the analog inputs on the Altivar 58 source the signal?

This depends on how the inputs are wired and they type of signal used. Most commonly, the analog signals are sourced separately and the COM is tied in with the source COM.

AI1 is a 0 to 10 VDC input. Impedance = 30 k Ohms.
The +10 can be used as a supply for a reference potentiometer (1k to 10k Ohms)

AI2 is current input (0 to 20 mA, 4 to 20 mA, 20 to 4 mA or other range as set in the Control Menu.) Impedance = 100 Ohms.
In some cases, the +24 can be used as a supply for a 4-20 mA current transmitter. The 24 VDC power supply is primarily used for logic inputs. It has a maximum of 200 mA capacity. Each logic input will use about 10 mA.
