Ask a Question

Why is Maximum Available Fault Current question so important in the medium voltage metal enclosed product selector?

This value of current NOT ONLY determines the TYPE of product that can be used, but also the fuse type (Current Limiting or Boric Acid). The UNKNOWN answer assumes fault current > 12,500 amps Sym and < 38,000 amps Sym. The Maximum Available Fault Current is the maximum current that could be forced upon the switchgear should a major fault occur.
