Issue:
Customer has an HVL/cc switch and the operating handle socket is wearing out.  Can he replace the socket for the handle?

Product Line:
HVLcc

Environment:
Products sold in the United States.

Cause:
Service Support.

Resolution:
Customer has an HVL/cc switch and the operating handle socket is wearing out.

Customer was operating this switch 900 times per year for 3 years. This totals to 2700 operations. The rated mechanical life of the HVL/cc switch is 1000 operations.

Metal enclosed switches are not designed for a high number of operations. 1000 operations for the HVL/cc is the maximum. They are also not to be operated frequently under load. 100 full load operations is the maximum for HVL/cc.

Switching duty is better served by the Visi/Vac Circuit Interrupter, MasterClad breakers or MV Motor Controllers.

The subject mechanism is worn out and a new mechanism is required.
Better to replace entire switchgear with one of the above.
